JALAL BOUMIA

Born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco, Jalal started surfing at a young age, as a natural athlete he excelled at sports especially in competitions, but surfing was more than just a sport it was a way of life. He won his first National title in 1998 as Moroccan Junior Champion and has continued to compete in not only Moroccan Competitions but the ISA World Games and on the WSL Qualifying Series, taking home many titles and podium wins since.

Jalal learned early the "surfer's struggle" of dealing with snapped and dinged surfboards. In Morocco, finding surfboard repair was not an easy task or an affordable one. Naturally, Jalal decided, if he wanted to surf he needed to know how to repair his own surfboards. Quickly learning the craft of repairing and shaping surfboards by hand and refining his process over the years, turning the need into a passion.

After years of repairing and shaping as a side job Jalal finally took the leap and opened JB Surfboards in Tamraght, Morocco in January 2019 complimenting  Morocco's 3,500 km of coast line with now a fourth surfboard shaper.

JB Surfboards services all surfers with their surfboard shaping or repair needs. Taking pride in his community and the surfing culture JB Surfboards has embraced the need to help protect the environment by cultivating new ways to create new hand shaped surfboards from recycled foam and other materials.
